Our Library

Clarice Cliff Primary School has a well-appointed library, as well as being home to nearly 7,000 books, both fiction and non-fiction, it boasts 5 desktop computers and a large interactive teaching computer. It has formal seating for group lessons as well as more comfortable, less informal seating on which to enjoy reading for pleasure.

Each member of the school community, from nursery to the staff, has a unique library card borrowing code which enables them to borrow books from the library for up to three weeks at a time. The library is open both during break and at lunchtime, with each class having a library slot in addition to their lesson time library slot.

For those children who do not wish to visit the library there are Reading Stops, equipped with books, along both the key stage one and two corridors. There are class reading leaders on duty each day to help their peers at these times.

Every class also has its own “mini” reading library.

Reading Stops:

If children can’t make it to the library, they are free to use our Reading Stops which are dotted around our school. These provide comfy places to sit and read, either with a friend or individually.

Additionally, all children are welcome to visit the library alongside their parents each Friday after school where they can borrow books and seek advice about reading.

Year 5 Librarians:

In addition to the Reading Leaders in each class Ms Elliott has a team of 10 librarians who help to keep the library in working order. They can help children and members of staff to locate particular books and keep the library shelves, including the constantly-used Accelerated Reader book shelves, in the correct order.
